ReSource has installed its first Proof of Concept (PoC) in Switzerland for Smart Bins for the municipality of Thônex in Geneva area. The solution (sensors+platform) is provided by Sensoneo. The physical installation was made in collaboration between ReSource and the Groupe SERBECO. ReSource was handling the setup of two types of connectivity provided by Swisscom which are NB-IoT and LoraWan.
The project showed successfully that underground containers could be managed with different frequencies than the ones actually used. Furthermore, it showed that getting data on the filling rate is not only beneficial for the collector but also for the municipality itself, the maintenance service provider and the citizens. A full installation was planned after 3 weeks of testing.
The project was the first one in Switzerland for the company ReSource aiming to develop even further in the country with a new vision on waste management.
