The project aimed to assess the need for waste incineration in Iceland in the future and also to assess how this need will be best met. The assessment was based on an estimate of the amount of waste that will be generated in Iceland, until the year 2045, which will not be recyclable and must therefore be disposed of in another way, e.g. by combustion.

We developed a whole waste management model that could be reused for regional and national waste management flow analysis.
